Commercial Rating
Prepare for the checkride, and for what the job demands.
Who it's for
Pilots building toward a flying career. You must be at least 18 and hold a Private Pilot certificate.
How Doug teaches it
- Taught by a working captain who went from new pilot to commercial jobs in two and a half years
- Real-world commercial operations, not just checkride maneuvers
- First-hand perspective on the job search and flying careers
FAA minimum experience
These are the main legal minimums under 14 CFR 61.123 and 61.129, not a prediction of how long your training will take. Doug can walk you through the full requirements.
- 250 hours of total flight time
- 100 hours in powered aircraft, including 50 in airplanes
- 100 hours as pilot in command, including 50 cross-country
- 20 hours of training, including instrument and advanced airplane time
- 10 hours of solo or pilot-in-command maneuvers and cross-country work
